Monkey Tree and a Red C-RV

Monkey Tree and a Red C-RV

I’m tired writing lyrics

For someone else’s song

Weary of the waiting

For a new love to come along.

Chorus- Riding her red honda c-rv

Blond hair trailing the flag of the free

She’s gunning the motor waiting for me

To climb down from my monkey tree

And drive to a place we want to be

She pulled up to the curb

So beautiful I couldn’t speak,

I asked for a verb

Which she delivered in Greek.

-chorus-

Now I’m pulling rhymes out of my hat,

Hs and Rs and letters like that.

I breaking the forms, the American way,

That girl in the Red SUV’s got me under her sway.

-chorus-

I’m thinking of retirement when I can

Tired of working for the man

Inspecting flags is a terrible way

To make a living day after day

-chorus-

So I’m standing at the roadside

A Jew waiting for a sign,

Remembering windy day at the ocean

Vowing to follow the line.

The sun is on the horizon

The vehicles pass in its haze

I’ll wait for her forever

Or at least a bunch of days.

To emerge from the fog

in her red honda c-rv

Blond hair trailing flag of the free

She gunning the motor waiting for me

To climb down from my monkey tree

Driving to the place we want to be.
